How do I find a home energy auditor?

Hello Victor,

Good Question. I will attempt to answer it from the perspective of the GoingEverGreen community initiative.

Individual homeowners, such as yourself, as well as housing developers are showing an increased interest in utility sponsored programs to develop a workforce capable of rating energy efficiency and performance in homes and buildings. The GoingEvergreen community initiative has sponsored a career ladder program to create such a workforce.

Training Energy auditors are an essential component of the career ladder program sponsored by the GoingEvergreen community initiative.

The Going Evergreen career ladder program trains energy auditors according to national standards. The program also collaborates with New Buildings Institute standards, LEED standards, and the ENERGY STAR Homes Multi-Family High Rise Pilot Program and meets national building energy efficiency standards.

Under the GoingEvergreen career ladder program, candidate energy auditors receive knowledge and skills defined by industry standards from accredited training providers. The training curriculum and instructors are approved and certified by federally accredited Rater Agencies such as the US Department of Energy Building America program. After completing the GoingEvergreen career ladder program, candidate energy auditors are required to pass a national online test and perform 5 building energy ratings under the supervision of a certified rater before they are certified by an Agency accredited rating provider.
